The best way to get rid of a Pimple Scar ( Method 2 )
This is a continuation of previous posts The best way to get rid of a Pimple Scar ( Method 1 ) ..
Treating Late, Pronounced Acne Scars
Understand that many of the treatments recommended for more pronounced acne scars must be administered by a doctor. It's a hassle, and you probably wish that you could get these treatments at home, or at least find a substitute. But because of the potency and danger of these methods, they are almost always done under the supervision of a doctor.Talk to your doctor about stronger chemical peels. Chemical peels use potent acid formulas to lift off the top layer or layers of skin, thereby minimizing the appearance of scars. Very strong chemical peels should be used in combination with a doctor's advice and/or guidance.
Talk to your doctor about dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. Dermabrasion is the process of sloughing off top layers of skin with a rapidly rotating wire brush. Blemishes on the surface of the skin are usually removed, and deeper scars are usually minimized, although dermabrasion can cause changes in skin pigments for patients with darker skin.
Consider also microdermabrasion. A lighter procedure than dermabrasion, microdermabrasion is the application of small crystals onto the top layer of skin, which are then vacuumed up, along with dead skin cells. Because the procedure only removes the top layer of skin, results are generally a lot less pronounced than dermabrasion.
Talk to your doctor about laser treatments. Lasers blast the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and heat the layer of skin just beneath it. Skin heals, lessening the appearance of scars. Sometimes, multiple laser treatments are needed to lessen the visibility of scars; repeated treatments offer subtler results.
1. Laser treatments do not work for everyone. Results are unpredictable at best. Doctors do not yet know why laser treatments will be effective for some patients but ineffective for others.
2. Many people consider laser effective, but few patients, if any, see 100% elimination of their scars. Although it helps reduce the visibility of scars, it is almost never completely effective, and it needs to be used in tandem with other treatments, as described above.
As a last resort for large, deep lesions or scars, talk to your doctor about skin surgery. Skin surgery is a minor surgery in which a punch excision cuts out the scar and replaces it with stitching or a skin graft. Smaller lesions require only stitching, while large lesions may require a skin graft from another part of your body.
